What is Telegram Payments
Telegram Payments is a system for receiving and processing payments directly within Telegram. It enables businesses, online services, and creators to accept payments from users inside the messenger. There’s no need to redirect them to external websites or require additional apps.
The system works through Telegram bots and allows users to complete payments without leaving the chat. Transactions take place directly in the Telegram interface, streamlining the user journey and improving conversion rates.
How it works
Telegram does not process payment data itself. All transactions go through external payment providers approved by Telegram. These include Stripe, Tranzzo, ECOMMPAY, and others depending on the region.
When a user clicks a payment button, they see an invoice, choose a payment method (credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.), confirm the transaction, and receive a result — all within a single Telegram window.
This payment system supports:
- one-time payments and recurring subscriptions;
- payments for goods and services in chatbots;
- in-app purchases within Mini Apps;
- integration with Telegram Web Apps and Telegram Ads.
Telegram charges no commission for using this feature — fees and payout terms are defined by the payment provider.
Who can use Telegram Payments
The system is suitable for both small businesses and companies working with digital products. It’s used by:
- online stores and delivery services;
- educational platforms and paid courses;
- content creators offering access to premium content;
- teams developing commercial Mini Apps.
Developer tools for Telegram Payments
Telegram provides an API for generating invoices, tracking payment status, handling notifications, and creating user flows. Secure webhooks, Telegram-based user authentication, and external service integration are supported.
Payments can be embedded in a bot, a mini app, or an advertising flow — enabling a seamless funnel from first interaction to final payment.
This payment solution is a core component of the messenger’s commercial infrastructure. Combined with Telegram Ads, Mini Apps, and business profiles, it creates a complete environment for engaging users and collecting payments — all within one platform.
