Telegram Feature Updates
Telegram developers have rolled out new features to the messenger. The updates affect gifts, stories, and other sections.
Gifts
In January, Telegram launched collectible gifts, and now they can be sold. A dedicated marketplace has been introduced directly in the messenger, where users can buy and sell items using stars (Telegram’s virtual currency).
Gifts can be listed for sale in a special section, where users can set their own prices. A “For Sale” label will be visible to friends and followers. The marketplace also features filters to search for gifts by model and other characteristics.
Currently, Telegram is testing the resale of collectible gifts in the beta version for Android. Users set the price themselves, but it must not exceed 100,000 stars. Telegram will receive 20% of the sale amount.
Group Calls
Additionally, Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced the launch of a new group calling feature. Up to 200 participants can join a call.
“The latest Telegram update offers secure group calls. They are protected not only by end-to-end encryption but also by blockchain-like technology, ensuring that no one can secretly join and eavesdrop,” Durov stated on his Telegram channel.
Users will be able to add people to any call. Joining can be done via link, QR code, or direct invitation.
Stories
Updates have also been made to the “Stories” section. Users can now publish multiple posts at once. It’s possible to select several photos or videos and upload them as a sequence of stories.
In addition, users can now upload longer videos. Clips over 60 seconds will be automatically split and published in sequence on the account.
New Tools for Administrators
Channel administrators also received new tools. They can now enable automatic message translation for all readers, allowing content to appear instantly in the user’s primary language.
Moreover, channels will now be able to level up faster, as fewer votes from subscribers are required. This makes access to additional features easier.
